At HomeJab, we picture a future where real estate technology accommodates our elders. We are proud to announce a major initiative, with plans to increase immersive digital media like videos, HDR photography, aerials, and 3D virtual tours in senior living communities.
Other real estate executives we’ve spoken with agree that the digital development for senior living communities is lacking, compared with other markets. The lack of digital resources could be due to the assumption that some older audiences aren’t tech savvy, and don’t need advances in technology. But the data from a recent Pew Research Center analysis is clear: People 60 and older now spend more than half of their daily leisure time in front of screens on TVs, computers, tablets, and other electronic devices.
How HomeJab Will Support The Aging Population
In the United States, 10,000 people turn 65 daily, and the total population of older adults will “more than double over the next several decades,” according to a report published by AARP. There is a massive population of adults, who are living longer, and want to retain independence— especially when it comes to housing.
Tech designers have the shared responsibility of giving older people support for their independence, community integration, and overall well-being. However, tech markets are still behind in accommodating this population adequately. Here is how HomeJab will benefit the senior community at large:
- Video Walkthroughs: HomeJab offers video walkthroughs that make it simple to explore individual units.
- Aerial Tours: Drone technology allows us to provide a dynamic, birds-eye view of the neighborhoods surrounding senior living communities.
- HDR (High Dynamic Range) Photography: HDR photography produces images that are similar to what the human eye sees. They can be used for senior community listings, making it easy to get a realistic first impression.
- Virtual Reality: Virtual reality is useful for physically experiencing the space and feel of a potential new home. It can ease the burden of going on tours for older people, who may feel discouraged by the number of homes they may tour before making a decision.
This is just the beginning for our strategy to meet the needs of older adults in communities across the United States.
Presenting: HomeJab For Senior Living Communities
This goal for the new decade is simple: Provide digital resources for senior living communities, and meet the future housing needs of seniors. HomeJab will make it easier for older people to find accessible homes in one of our 113 markets in the United States, which all have significant populations of people 65 and older, and will continue to grow.
Take a look at some of the senior living communities we’ve already worked with in Indiana, Tennessee, Connecticut, and New York. We’re already taking the first steps towards creating a new reality for older populations who are seeking new homes. Choosing the right senior living community can be a difficult process for older people and their loved ones, but HomeJab is taking initiative to ease the burden on everyone involved.
